I really enjoyed this film. The characters were individually drawn and the suspense was real. I particularly enjoyed Lourdes Faberes performance. She drifted in and out of scenes as the maid she was, in character and I couldn't keep my eyes off her. I felt that she held the story together and that the film was well written. I liked the individual viewpoint of the filmmakers. Got a little confused by one of the female characters. I couldn't figure out who she was married to. But other than that, I enjoyed the feeling of being a tourist in a mysterious hotel. A well done independent film.

"Værelse 304" or "Room 304" is a Danish movie from 2011, so this one has its 5th anniversary this year. The director is Birgitte Stærmose and the writer is Kim Fupz Aakeson. Both have worked in the industry for a while, especially the later has had an extremely prolific career in recent years/decades. The only cast member I know here is Trine Dyrholm, but Danish film fans maybe will find more familiar names in the cast list. Looking at how this one won several award and scored more nominations and how experienced most of the people working on it were, I am pretty disappointed with the outcome. The movie runs for slightly under 1.5 hours and for a runtime of almost 90 minutes, it has extremely few memorable moments really. One would be possibly a murder scene, but I will not spoil if he really pulls the trigger. A big part of the film consists of scenes that involve a great deal of erotics, sometimes relationship struggles, but these felt oh so empty and generic to me that at some point I just stopped caring for the characters' fates really. This is of course a negative deal breaker for any movie. According to IMDb, the first language here is German, but this is certainly an error as it is a Danish production in Danish language. You may want to make sure to get a good subtitles if you really decide to watch. But honestly, why would you? There are some great Danish films from the last 20 years, some with focus on crimes for example, but this one nowhere near these. I give it a thumbs-down as the weak/bad easily outweighs the good. Not recommended.
