well I saw "verflixt verliebt" last week and I must admit, I enjoyed myself very much. it's probably my favourite swiss film production I have ever seen. a crazy comedy with a lot of fresh humour and ideas!!! It's about an argentinian biology-student named Miro, studying in zurich, switzerland, who accidentally is taken for some famous argentinian film director. Because Miro loves this actress, who also believes he's this famous guy, Miro thinks the only way to get her is to make a film and give her the leading role. Well the interesting thing about this film is that there is a film student who has to make a documentary film about the swiss film industry and he meets Miro and sees his chance to produce some footage behind the scenes of the set and getting exclusive interviews from this famous film director. And the whole film we see out of the perspective of this film student and his cameraman. and, as you can imagine a lot of funny and dramatic stuff happens on set with a lot of turning points. Miro goes through a lot of emotional phases like the rest of the members on the set. The dialogues between Miro and the filmstudent are hilarious, Miro being asked these film theoretical stuff and trying to answer... One of the best scenes is when the film crew follow Miro and the actress (sorry, I can't remember her name)on to a tram, while the sound engineer misses the tram. He gets into a taxi and follows the tram. But the funny thing is, we see dramatic scenes happening in the tram, while we hear the dialogue between the sound engineer and the taxidriver. I gave it a nine, one of the best comedies I've seen lately.

  • great film!

I wandered into the theater that was showing this film at Cannes on a whim, because I wanted to see a film from Switzerland which, even to the Swiss filmmakers, is rare. I didn't know what I was watching and, as the only English speaker, I had no clue what was going on when a stream of (then) unknowns walked up to the front of the stage and began speaking in French and German about their film. As the film began, however, I soon realized that the people in front of the theater were actually the actors and filmmakers of this very good, very funny film that makes use of four or five or six or seven different kinds of camera throughout the film. I hope this film gets United States distribution, because I think it will do pretty well if marketed and sold to the American public.

  • so the Swiss do make movies after all... !

Just recently I have watched this movie and really enjoyed it. Its main plot is about the biology student Miro falling in love with an actress. He is mistaken for an experimental film director which makes Mercedes, the actress, take an interest in Miro. This is the beginning of a complicated love-story including money problems, bombs, intrigue, the(nonexistent?) Swiss movie scene and a very crazy ending. Very challenging to watch but also interesting are the different formats used (8mm, 16mm, 35mm and security camera footage) and the fact that it is a film about the making of a film which is documented by Swiss film students... I very much enjoyed the experimental and unique take on a comedy. It is confusing, hilarious and entertaining.
