Sexocracy: The man of Bunga Bunga (2012) Reviews

  • A Good Movie!

Throughout the documentary we understand how the showbiz works in Italy. The connection between showbiz and politics (Silvio Berlusconi), and how mad are Italian for success in the showbiz. There are shocking images of young girls which humiliate themselves to get little coverage from C rated broadcasting stations. There are former showgirl that have become ministers knowing nothing of politics. But, fortunately, there's also a part of youth (mostly immigrants) who still believes in good values, like the love for the family. This movie is a MUST SEE. In the movie also Bill Clinton forgiveness message to the nation for the scandals he was involved in. This make understand the seriousness of Americans comparing to Italians. Berlusconi has not the guts to say sorry for what he did. It is impressive how a talent agent like Lele Mora could have been in touch with head of state like Clinton, Gorbachev, etc..

After wiretapping Lele Mora comes the movie that makes us understand the different faces of this character, from friendship with Silvio Berlusconi for private banquets, up to the body of the woman who becomes a source of comparison. And the story of the two magnates of the show that have been and are still the focus of ongoing debates related to the scandals which have become spokespeople. Two worlds of entertainment and that of politics that increasingly intertwined their shirts, creating a situation almost beyond belief ... Seeing for believing ... John

  • Good Documentary but poor distribution

I was able to watch this documentary even though it is indeed hard to find it. But I was lucky. Lucky because thanks to that I know a little more about Italians, their customs, their dreams, their misery. I love that country the way i love mine. And I was very proud to see that in this good feature there is a point of view of my country-fellow. But the Philippines, when it comes to the dreams of teens and youth is not much different. Also here people are really crazy for showbiz and would do anything to enter this world....The point of view of the young and pretty Filipina who works in Italy is indeed conservative but to be respected. Here politicians are not better than in Italy. There are many "Silvio Berlusconi" here dating young women sometimes younger than 18....but they are just more careful doing this...Everywhere is just the same when it comes to sex. The documentary in engaging, ironic, entertaining. Good job. It is a pity that there's no English version but only subtitles...

  • SEXOCRACY - Sex rules!

This film, shot before Lele Mora ended up in jail for fraudulent bankruptcy, may be considered the completion of Videocracy. But is not based only on the point of view of the former agent of the VIP, but also on th point of view of those who are not interested in joining the showbiz: Lanie, the beautiful Filipino girl whose essential values are the love for her family and her job. The film proceeds in parallel between the memories of Mora and the few windows of images from which Lanie comments about the fever for appearance of young Italians, and criticizes the commodification of the female body. One may ask himself who is the author of this commodification, the one to blame. One of the theses of the documentary is simple: if the woman would not make her body available, this could not certainly get commodified. In the film could not miss Silvio Berlusconi that so much affected Lele Mora's career . That national Silvio considered the greatest architect of the invasion of the places of power by showgirls and starlets. Young women hungry for power and success bred in the 'stable' Lele Mora, like the famous Ruby Rubacuori. In Sexocracy Lele Mora reiterates his innocence regarding all the accusations made to him from various fronts, but the direction of Soriquez, does not seem to support his thesis, with a montage that sometimes underlines his contradictions. "The truth is always a little real and a bit fake" Mora says at the end of the film. Thesis quite philosophical if we review the theories of philosophers-mathematicians. Only that makes you smile told by him. Sexocracy, Cratia of Sex, the most powerful energy of the human being, and like all things can be used for good or for evil.

This interesting documentary is a snapshot of how the 20 years of Berlusconi ruling were like in Italy, as far as the links between politics and showbiz were concerned. The film flows fast and nicely without any dull moment. It is not preachy, doesn't side neither with the left wing nor with the right wing and even though it is based on a long interview of Lele Mora where he absolves himself from many accusations (exploitation of prostitution, fraudulent bankruptcy), the images show otherwise, making me suspect that the director really doubts that Lele Mora was innocent, like was proved a few years later when Lele Mora and Silvio Berlusconi were found guilty. Lovely the final sequence were the major characters of this documentary eat in their respective residences: Lele Mora and Ruby banqueting with a loaded table with many guests and the Filipina in her humble house feeding her son, reminding that we are all the same while satisfying our basic human needs.
