Chuck Holmes' Story
A reasonably candid look at the life and business of pornographer Chuck Holmes, porn producer from the 1970s, 80s, 90s. Later in life, Holmes had begun donating his profits to LGBT causes; while this was mostly appreciated, there were numerous cases where his donation was refused and returned due to the nature of his work. We see discussions from many of the politicians from san francisco over his contributions and career (Carole Migden, Mark Leno) but his money was not always welcome. Holmes also introduced the look of the very clean-cut, clean shaven men.. the average all-american men from the mid-west. Holmes was happy to support Clinton, since he was the first US President to really support gay causes. Holmes himself died in 2000. It's a fairly interesting story, and clearly he was a part of the sexual movement and history in LGBT culture, but I can't help but wonder if they tried to interview anyone who refused his money or didn't approve of his work. We only hear from those who supported him and his career. Good stuff. it's now available on DVD as Seed Money. Narrated by Jeff Stryker, who was a star of so many great films.
