Renato and his best friend Walter live two unsatisfied lives. The two decide that the only way they can ever change for the better is by robbing a postal van and escape to Costa Rica. Their plan would be perfect were it not for an especially determined police commissioner called Lucidi. Lucidi retraces Renato and Walter's steps and reconstructs Renato's miserable life bit by bit.

    A story about liberty dreams, about the escape from a sad and grey life. A postman(Sapienza) and his best friend organize a very simply and ingenious robbery. Sapienza is a poet and a dreamer, he dreams a well- off life.He needs money to escape from his flat life, and from his grey city:Turin.He wants to go in costarica, and there he would like living forever in front of the ocean... The robbery seems to be a success, Sapienza seems disappeared, and an old and disenchanted policeman (an extraordinary Antonio Catania)try to find him.so He starts to ask about Sapienza and his strange dreamer personality to his friends. At the end the policeman will find him, but, with a tragic final surprise, he ascertains how dreams can die. From a true story (a famous italian crime news),a bitter movie about the impossibility of realizing our dreams, about the human avidity and a grey society , which kills fantasy and personality. At the end everybody will be a Sapienza fan,but in vain...
