  I will give this movie an 8 for a remarkable story-telling of the happy and the not-so-happy life of young adults, captured in a very common ground- the school. Well, teens are very much exposed to various stereotypes and this film showcased how life in the metro affects how a child perceives life in general. A complex story of friendship, school-life-days, peer-pressure, homosexuality, euthanasia or mercy-killing, rampant-drug-trafficking and poverty. Director Pablo portrayed "Joyce" (A.Panganiban) as the sponge who absorbed the depths of each of her friends. This movie teaches us how to value each minute that we have in this world, that poverty can't be a hindrance for being happy. Sharing the value of life, and respecting each sensibility can create a harmonious world. It will start from our hopes and our dreams. Good editing and screenplay! But the movie/producer should have chosen a better actor for the guidance counselor role.

• seven lives

  Pitong Dalagita, a complex and beautiful film, not your average "teen-flick". The film showed the darker side of human emotions, where nothing is what the seem to be. The story is simple, seven teenagers slashes their wrist, all of them survive except one. The story goes as how the surviving teenagers' lives led on trying to commit suicide. For me, all of the seven lead characters performed very well. Valerie Conception gave the best performance, followed by Iwa Moto, Yasmien Kurdi, Cristine Reyes, Nadine Samonte and JR Trinidad. I found Angelica Panginiban's performance lacking, like how she performed in White Lady. Very nice and different story. Excellent direction. Believable performances. This film should've been given an "A" rating. Pitong Dalagita = 8/10

• Good acting, mediocre production

  I find the current user rating of this movie extremely exaggerated. I watched this movie and although it contains certain emotional scenes, most of them show that the film was produced and shot with a certain degree of amateurishness. The overuse of flashbacks and repetitive scenes is the very first symptom of it. The screenplay needed some serious editing. At times you have the feeling of watching a soap opera melodrama rather than a film. I also object to the lesbian plot tag. There is no lesbian scene whatsoever in this film, although there is one gay character. Perhaps this movie could be better described with the lesbian-interest tag instead. Despite these technical shortcomings, the acting looks fresh and authentic, showing the inner struggle and angst that any teenager, in any part of the world, face in a daily basis. The director and editor need, however, to mature and become more sophisticated.
