"Papa Pede" is one of the most powerful people in the city, but he has been marked for death by his enemies. He forcibly recruits two guys, Kieb and Jeng, who have just been released from jail to assassinate his assassin. Pede believes that Kieb is the man who managed to kill a famed assassin many years before, but in reality that had just been an accident! Living up this reputation, plus the added financial responsibilities of paying his kid's school tuition, his friend's hospital bills, Jieb is forced to accept. They are given five days to accomplish their mission. It's a do or die operation.

  • Stylish, bloody, but ultimately boring....

    I'm not exactly sure what went wrong with "Perfect Killer". There's definitely some talented people involved. The film-making is rather well done, with a very edgy, bloody Tarantino-esquire style to it. The two appealing young stars have done good work before; Supakorn Kitsuwon is the hero of film festival favorite "Monrak Transistor" and wacky Chaicharn Nimpulsawadi is the lead katoey from "The Iron Ladies". Ultimately, I guess it was the story that failed to engage. Two guys are released from prison. Kiab is an innocent man who has developed a killer reputation after he was found guilty of single-handedly exterminating an entire gang in one go, five years before. Song, his uncle, is a remorseless professional hired killer. The film is an action-comedy about how Kiab ends up being assigned to kill a major gangland boss when Song is hospitalized. There's a rather ridiculous subplot involving Kiab's 4-year old English-speaking son, and the movie failed to exploit potential comic gold in Kiab's shady lesbian ex-girlfriend, Si (who is also his son's mother!), and it all ends fairly predictably. All in all, everybody is trying very hard, but there are a lot better Thai movies out there. Recommended only for fans of the genre. 5/10 for effort.

    What is wrong with this movie? Nothing. It is an export-oriented film where usual local worthless of a human life wrapped into a jacket of sexy-funny-action comedy. Watching "Perfect killer" consumes murders, blood, crime much easily than in "Dangerous Bangkok" and many other Siamese-produced hard-violence movies because simplicity of slaughtering makes viewer laughing at strangers' pain instantly. Very handsome performers, cute kids, homo-related humor, bright dresses and expensive cars add to westernization of a traditional environment with "Matrix"-synonymous predictable result, which is victory of good over evil. And who cares, how many human beings were killed till The End appeared? Is it a classic? I think, it is a really outstanding picture as its creators portrayed Thailand looking unrecognizably perhaps even to natives of this kingdom, very nice music assists to. I would say it is worth to watch for expertly presented entertaining funny cynic bright depiction of a gang-affected poor existence. Michael Kerjman
