The tragic but heartwarming drama plays out as narrated by the wise voice of a mature Luna, Mossie's younger sister. Luna first takes us to the inseparable pair; Mossie and Adriaan, her best friend and fellow adventurer. Even through the sickness and death of the sisters' mother in their early childhood, Mossie and Adriaan remain safe in the wonderful world they occupy together. Luna then takes us forward in time. In their final year of high school, Mossie, in true teenage fashion, falls in love with a smooth-talking rugby player from university, called Leon. She enters a dysfunctional relationship, putting strain on her life-long friendship with Adriaan, who remains patient with Mossie despite her starry-eyed blindness.
