Derren Brown: Miracle (2016) Reviews

  • Loved it to bits

I am not Christian and I think most reviewers are biased. The man helped me get rid of so many superstitions added to my religion Islam. He revealed the tricks that the so-called healers use to rip people off. The message is loud and clear: Go seek a doctor if you are sick . Choose to believe in a God or not is your own choice . Leave the miracles out of it. I loved the show a lot and I strongly recommend it for the open-minded people. For those who chose to put their heads in the ground and accepted religion as the answer for everything, this show will not make them at ease.

  • Derren Brown Being Derren Brown

First let me say you can ignore all of the negative reviews because they're obviously left by people who are too cowardly to come right out and say, "I don't like it when people make me question my faith." Yes, it's a slow-paced show, but that's because he's taking his time to demonstrate each point he has to make. Derren's specialty is making you think. If you're not comfortable with that concept, none of his shows are for you.

  • A little disappointing

    sianyemz18072018-07-07

As a huge Derren Brown fan it's safe to say I was a little underwhelmed by this show. It's still managed to create a slight element of wondering 'how did he do that?', but it lacked any real excitement and it started to get very repeatative and boring - like he ran out of ideas. The 'healing' processes, which took up the majority of the show and got rather dull, seemed like he was mocking Christian healing. Stating he is a strong atheist and then constantly over-emphatically addressing the lord seemed a little disrespectful, even to me as a non-religious believer. I still believe the way he made people feel as though they were healed was wonderful, but it could have been executed in a much better way.

  • 10min per trick (75 min for 8 tricks)

I've seen all of his shows, but in this one he seemed a bit out of ideas. The tricks were mostly simple and easy to decipher. Most of the time he'll be building up and building up and... building up, just to show a disappointing finale. Maybe I expected more from him, but I really didn't enjoy anything from this show. It was basically him trying really hard to get everyone in the same state of mind, just to show of some lazy simple street-art trick. I rate this a 2 / 10 just for his effort / energy.

  • What a total jerk Derren Brown has become

    crescentwater2018-06-29

He brings an audience member onto stage for a trick and then calls her a "clumsy cow" for knocking something over. Really? REALLY? What an arrogant jerk this man has become. The "clumsy cow" comment came before his painfully weird "faith healing" even began. I am not religious but found his appropriation of Christian prayer and music to be creepy (not in the good way!) and straight up disrespectful. Instead of making faith healers look like charlatans (as he wanted) it just made him look ironically righteous. I turned this off with a big ICK feeling left inside. Before this special, I had watched everything of Derren Brown's that I could find and had always been thoroughly entertained by him. Now I will never watch any of his work again.
