Cementerio General (2013) Reviews

  • Very Bad!!!

    maxjrojasr2016-03-17

The first thing to do when you leave see "Cementerio General" is to request the complaints book, they offer "Film terror" and it has nothing of film of terror. An insult to the genre of "found footage". Because, let's face it, there are bad movies, very bad, disastrous and then is "General Cemetery". As supposed did not satisfy my craving for suspense, has flashes of comedy and no originality. actors with dismal performance and style recording camera in hand that had me bored. No plot, excessively abusing the easy joke and a horrible image as it is supposed to have been recorded with a cell phone. All this together produces a sad result that despite lasting only 1 hour and a quarter, is eternal and boring as waiting at the dentist. Too bad, SIMPLY BAD!!!!. this film has nothing good ... sorry for being Peruvian... but it is the truth.

  • A comedy movie inside a "horror" movie

    PSchiemer2013-08-10

I will start saying that the success of this movie as a product happened because of publicity. It's presented as the first horror movie made in Peru but it doesn't even have a original script. All the horror scenes in this movie are based in American movies. The first part of the film its presented as a found footage movie, but the hand camera (manipulated by a character) its awfully managed, and because of that the whole location gets lost. Spoilers The best part of this movie it's the sense of humor, the characters know how to represent the spirit of the young Peruvian people. But, the comedy part inside the movie last for too long. Even in the most "terrifying" part, jokes are still around. Characters are clearly overacted. The bad manipulation of the hand camera creates many distractions in the viewer and the movie lost the real objective of the film, scare the audience. Finally after a very confusing plot we discover that it has all been a revenge and the girl who tried to avenge her father got killed by the possessed kid, and for no reason her soul starts to kill everyone of her old friends that had nothing to do with her original problem.

  • worst movie EVER!

Boys and girls do NOT watch this film! Just terrible. Acting? Story? Script? Nothing. I watch better movies created by a 5 year-old on a cell phone. A total rip-off from "The Blair Witch project" "Paranormal activity" and "Rec" only that they reproduced it on a very shameful manner. the people responsible behind this project Javier Velasquez co-writer and Dorian Fernández, the "director/writer" former student of the so called "guru" Dov Simens, are way to in loved with themselves and winged the whole thing assuming their talent would kick-in ... only it didn't. Don't waste your time watching movies from Peru, at least not yet.

This film took way too long to get to its core subject, and built up to it like a conventional movie, in 24 frames per second, different camera angles, etcetera. A girl named Andrea lost her father and agrees to try to contact him via a Ouija board with a group of fellow students in a cemetery. Framed around this, we start with some kid filming a funeral, followed by him rushing into some woman's house and sobbing that he promised not to tell anyone but has to tell her, and this entire scene is framed and shot like a soap opera. It sticks out so horribly amongst an already disjointed film. Then the film apparently goes back, detailing the sequence of events leading up to the cemetery sequence. Once they reach the cemetery, the film abruptly shifts into a Found Footage style film, as we see everything from the point of view of the camera, as if this film did not begin like a conventional film. The found footage stuff was rather fun, tense, nothing innovative or extreme. Through the found footage sequence, secrets are revealed involving Andrea's father and the family of one of the other girls, Mayra. It ends badly. But the film itself doesn't end. We go back to the Soap Opera scene, where the kid has more footage to show; him filming in his room late at night, sobbing and shrieking at a ghost, it seems. Then, we lose all the Found Footage stuff and the film inexplicably keeps going on. It basically became an entirely different movie in its last 15 minutes more interested in an incoherent, one-sided bit of "revenge" rather than storytelling any longer. Also, inexplicably, as I was finishing up writing this review, and starting up another horror movie, "Secreto Matusita", one of the characters pulls out his phone and starts showing footage from THIS movie
